Electronic Poker is a beloved game that is able to be bet on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, using a net connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the best combination of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A five card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the player has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most beneficial machine each instance.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Further, a few styles of the game give the player a chance to double their wins, in which case another round is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
