Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, using a net account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest mixture of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be given out. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are able to choose the most beneficial game every time.
After the first round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
