The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable bettors are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones each instance.
As soon as the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which situation another game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
