Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through a web connection. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best mixture of cards achievable in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be "handed out" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the player has decided on which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable players are able to pick the most profitable ones each instance.

After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that might have been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
